Copy-editing for Science Communication
Copy-Editing for Science Communication trains volunteers to refine science writing for clarity, accuracy, and accessibility without losing the writer's voice. Through live editing labs on real Fact Hub Myanmar drafts, students practise line, paragraph, and structural edits with particular attention to translating technical terminology for Burmese-language readers, calibrating hedging in scientific claims, flagging items that need fact-check, and maintaining editorial consistency across the publication. Recommended for Editorial Board members who review others' work, and for science writers sharpening their self-editing.
Foundations of Research Writing (Batch 2)
Foundations of Research Writing is a practical, workshop-driven course that trains volunteers in the systematic research and evidence-based writing standards used at Fact Hub Myanmar. The revised structure puts live writing at the centre: across ten live sessions over four weeks, students will move step by step from defining a research question to publishing a science article. Students will leave the course with at least one finished, research-backed article produced under guided instruction, and the working habits to repeat the process independently.
Foundations of Research Writing
This isn't a course about fancy writing. It's about writing that doesn't lie, backed up properly, and structured so people actually understand what you're saying. Over three weeks, you'll move from "I think this is true" to "here's why this is true"—with sources that prove it.
We're building the skills you need at Fact Hub Myanmar: turning messy research into clear narratives, fact-checking your own work before anyone else does, and knowing when you genuinely don't know something.
Commitment: ~6-8 hours per week (includes live sessions, reading, assignments, and independent work)
